Woodland and Villegas Join the Official Technology Partner of the PGA
TOUR
VERNON HILLS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
CDW (NASDAQ: CDW), a leading provider
of technology solutions to business, government, education and
healthcare, today announced its sponsorship of two PGA TOUR® champions,
Gary Woodland and Camilo Villegas. As the Official Technology Partner of
the PGA TOUR, CDW deepens its relationship with the professional golf
community by working with Woodland and Villegas, who will participate in
CDW-sponsored events throughout the year.
Through 2016, CDW is the exclusive sponsor of the PGA TOUR's ShotLink®
real-time scoring system, which is used by players to track and improve
performance, and by fans to deepen understanding of the game of golf.
CDW also provides a broad range of IT products and services to advance
the TOUR's operations for players and staff, as well as to improve the
experience for golf fans.
"To improve my golf game, I invested a lot of time rebuilding my swing,"
Woodland said. "CDW's leading technological capabilities and drive to
improve performance fit perfectly with the goals I have already set for
myself, and I look forward to my future with CDW and the PGA TOUR."
Woodland began his professional career shortly after graduating from the
University of Kansas in 2007, and has since earned two PGA TOUR wins.
Heralded as one of the longest drivers on TOUR, Woodland rounded out
2013 with a runner-up finish at The Barclays and already has four top-10
finishes in the 2013/2014 season.
"I'm looking forward to working with CDW," Villegas said. "I'm excited
to utilize CDW's proven technology and expertise to hone my game."
Colombian-born Villegas, a three-time PGA TOUR winner, turned
professional in 2004 and is well known for not only his physical power,
but also his signature low-to-the-ground crouching method to better read
putts. Recognized as one of the fittest players on TOUR, he was also the
2006 TOUR rookie of the year.
"Our partnership with the PGA TOUR over the past six years has been an
incredible experience to showcase our capabilities as a leading
technology solutions provider, and most importantly, to continually
advance the TOUR and encourage the golf community to embrace technology
to better understand the game and improve player performance," said Matt
Troka, senior vice president of product and partner management, CDW. "We
are grateful to work with these promising young golfers and put our IT
expertise - from mobility to data analytics - to work for them."
CDW has also sponsored 10-time LPGA Tour champion Paula Creamer since
2008. Creamer most recently won the HSBC Women's Champions tournament in
early March 2014.
