Christine A. Leahy, Chair, President & Chief Executive Officer, CDW

Christine A. Leahy is chair, president and chief executive officer of CDW. Leahy is responsible for the strategic direction and performance of the company as well as leading the senior management team.

Leahy has held numerous roles at CDW, most recently serving as chief revenue officer, where she was responsible for all customer-facing units of the company including its corporate, public, small business, international and integrated technology solutions organizations. Prior to that role, Leahy was senior vice president, international, where she led the development of the company’s international strategy, including the acquisition of Kelway, now CDW UK, and was responsible for the performance of its international business. Leahy also was our chief legal officer/general counsel and corporate secretary. Prior to joining CDW in 2002 as the company’s first general counsel, Leahy was a corporate partner in the Chicago office of Sidley Austin, an international business law firm.

Leahy earned a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a J.D. from Boston College Law School. She completed the CEO Perspectives Program at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, as well as the Women’s Director Development Program at Kellogg. She also currently serves on the board of directors for Target Corporation, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Junior Achievement of Chicago. She is a director of the Economic Club of Chicago and a member of both The Chicago Network and The Business Council. Leahy is a Past Chair and current member of the Board of Trustees of Children’s Home and Aid. In addition, Leahy is a founder and a sponsor of CDW’s Women’s Opportunity Network, a business resource group that actively and strategically supports women’s advancement at CDW.

Virginia C. Addicott, Retired President and Chief Executive Officer, FedEx Custom Critical

Virginia Addicott is the retired President and Chief Executive Officer of FedEx Custom Critical, a leading North American expedited freight carrier, a position she held from June 2007 to December 2019.

Addicott joined FedEx Custom Critical in 1999 as Division Managing Director, Service and Safety, and in 2001 became Division Vice President, Operations and Customer Service. Prior to joining FedEx Custom Critical, Addicott spent thirteen years at Roberts Express, Inc. (acquired by FedEx Custom Critical in 1999) in various operations roles.

Addicott is a member of the Board of Trustees of Kent State University. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors of Element Fleet Management Corp., Smither’s Oasis and Akron Children’s Hospital.  She is past chair of both The Boys and Girls Club of the Western Reserve and the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce.  Addicott is a graduate of Kent State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree and an Executive Master of Business Administration. 

James A. Bell, Retired Executive Vice President, Corporate President and Chief Financial Officer, The Boeing Company

James Bell retired as Executive Vice President of The Boeing Company, an aerospace company and manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft in April 2012.

Bell served as Boeing’s Executive Vice President, Corporate President and Chief Financial Officer from 2008 until February 2012.  Prior to this position, he served as Boeing’s Executive Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer from 2003-2008; Senior Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller from 2000-2003, and Vice President of Contracts and Pricing for Boeing Space and Communications from 1996-2000.

Bell serves on the board of directors of Apple Inc. During the past five years, Bell also served as a director of Dow Inc, DowDupont Inc., and JPMorgan Chase & Co. Bell is a graduate of California State University at Los Angeles where he earned a bachelor’s degree.

Anthony R. Foxx, Former U.S. Secretary Of Transportation

Anthony R. Foxx is the former United States Secretary of Transportation, a position he held from 2013 to 2017. Foxx served as the chief policy officer and senior advisor to the president and chief executive officer of Lyft, Inc. from October 2018 to January 2022 and will remain in an advisory capacity through the end of 2022.

Prior to joining Lyft, Foxx served as Managing Partner of Related Infrastructure, the infrastructure development group of Related Companies, a real estate firm, from December 2017 to October 2018. Previously, Foxx served as the mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina, from 2009 to 2013. First elected to the Charlotte City Council in 2005, upon his 2009 mayoral victory he became the youngest mayor in Charlotte’s history and its second African American mayor.

Foxx serves on the board of directors of Martin Marietta Materials, Inc., NXP Semiconductors N.V. and Shelter Acquisition Corp. He also serves on the Advisory Board of AutoTech Ventures and the Board of Directors of The Volcker Alliance. He is a Senior Fellow at the Harvard University Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and Executive in Residence, Carnegie Mellon University. He holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from New York University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), History, from Davidson College.

Marc E. Jones, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Aeris Communications

Marc Jones is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aeris Communications, a global leader in IoT connectivity solutions.  Jones has been Chairman of Aeris Communications since 2005 and President and Chief Executive Officer since 2008.

Prior to joining Aeris Communications, Jones served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for Visionael Corporation, a pioneer in enterprise network management and automation, and as President and Chief Operating Officer of Madge Networks, a company that specialized in networking technology. Prior to his time at Madge Networks, Jones held executive roles across the technology and financial services industries.

Jones sits on the board of directors of Ingersoll Rand Inc., the California Health Care Foundation and Management Leadership for Tomorrow, and on the Board of Trustees of Stanford University.  Jones is a graduate of Stanford University where he earned both his undergraduate degree in political science and his J.D. 

Sanjay Mehrotra, President and Chief Executive Officer of Micron Technology, Inc.

Sanjay Mehrotra serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Micron Technology, Inc., a world leader in innovative memory and storage solutions, a position he has held since May 2017.

Prior to joining Micron, Mehrotra was the President and Chief Executive Officer of SanDisk Corporation from January 2011 until its May 2016 sale to Western Digital Corp. Mehrotra co-founded SanDisk in 1988 and held positions of increasing authority prior to his position as President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to SanDisk, Mehrotra held design engineering positions at Integrated Device Technology, Inc., SEEQ Technology and Intel Corporation.

Mehrotra currently serves on the board of directors of Micron Technology, Inc., Stanford Health Care and the Engineering Advisory Board at the University of California, Berkley.   He has also previously held various board roles with Western Digital Corp., SanDisk Corp. and Cavium, Inc. Mehrotra earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley and is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Program (SEP). Mehrotra holds more than 70 patents and has published articles in the areas of nonvolatile memory design and flash memory systems.

David W. Nelms, Lead Independent Director

David Nelms currently serves as the Lead Independent Director of our Board of Directors since January 5, 2023. He previously served as our board’s Non-Executive Chair from 2020 to 2023 and as Lead Director from 2019 to 2020.  Nelms is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Discover Financial Services, a direct banking and payment services company.  He served as Executive Chairman from September 2018 to December of 2018.

Nelms joined Discover in 1998 as President and Chief Operating Officer. He was elected Chairman of the Board at Discover in January 2009, having served as Chief Executive Officer since 2004. Prior to joining Discover, Nelms worked at MBNA America Bank from 1991 to 1998, most recently as Vice Chairman. From 1990 to 1991, he was a senior product manager for Progressive Insurance.  Nelms served as a management consultant with Bain & Company from 1986 to 1990.

Nelms also serves on the executive board of directors of the University of Florida Foundation. Nelms is a graduate of University of Florida where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a graduate of Harvard Business School where he earned a Master of Business Administration.

Joseph R. Swedish, Retired Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, Anthem, Inc.

Joseph R. Swedish is the retired Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Anthem, Inc., a health benefits provider. Swedish joined Anthem in 2013 as President and Chief Executive Officer and was named Chairman in 2015. Swedish retired in November of 2017 and served as Executive Chairman from November 2017 to May 2018 and as a Senior Advisor from May 2018 to May 2020.

Prior to joining Anthem in March 2013, Swedish was President and Chief Executive Officer of Trinity Health, an eighteen-state integrated health care delivery system, from 2004 to 2013.  Swedish also has held CEO and senior leadership positions with Centura Health, Hospital Corporation of America and other healthcare enterprises.  Mr. Swedish also is the co-founder and partner of Concord Health Partners, LLC, a private equity firm focused on strategic investing in healthcare portfolio companies.

Swedish also serves on the boards of directors of Centrexion Therapeutics Corporation, IBM Corporation, Mesoblast Limited (chair), and on Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business Board of Visitors (chairman). During the previous five years, Swedish also served as a director of Anthem, Inc., the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and the National Institute for Health Care Management and America’s Health Insurance Plans (past chairman). Swedish received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and his master’s degree in health administration from Duke University.

Donna F. Zarcone, Retired President and Chief Executive Officer, The Economic Club of Chicago

Donna F. Zarcone is the retired President and Chief Executive Officer of The Economic Club of Chicago, a civic and business leadership organization, a position she held since February 2012 to July 2020. She served as Interim President of The Economic Club of Chicago from October 2011 to February 2012. From January 2007 to February 2012, she served as the President, CEO and founder of D.F. Zarcone & Associates LLC, a strategy advisory firm.

Prior to founding D.F. Zarcone & Associates, Zarcone was President and Chief Operating Officer of Harley-Davidson Financial Services, Inc., a provider of wholesale and retail financing, credit card and insurance services for dealers and customers of Harley-Davidson. After joining Harley-Davidson Financial Services, Inc. in 1994 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Zarcone was named President and Chief Operating Officer in 1998. Prior to joining Harley-Davidson Financial Services, Inc., Zarcone served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Chrysler Systems Leasing, Inc. from 1982 through 1994 and in various management roles at KPMG/Peat Marwick from 1979 through 1982.

Zarcone also serves on the boards of directors of Cigna Corporation, The Duchossois Group and Quinnox, Inc.  She also serves as a board member of various civic and professional organizations, including The University of Chicago Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, National Board of the Smithsonian Institution, and is a National Association of Corporate Directors Governance Fellow. She also holds a Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight from Carnegie Mellon University. Zarcone is a graduate of Illinois State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree and a graduate of University of Chicago Booth School of Business where she earned a Master of Business Administration. Zarcone is a certified public accountant.
